Research description

HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is a glycoprotein hormone made of two subunits: an α-subunit shared with LH, FSH and TSH, and a hormone-specific β-subunit. It is supplied lyophilised, with its amount stated in international units (IU).

It is studied in laboratory research on the LH/CG receptor and gonadotropin signalling in cell-culture and tissue models, and is used as a reference material in immunoassays.
