Research description
Melanotan II (MT-2) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analogue of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-NH2. The lactam ring makes it more stable than the linear hormone.
It is studied in laboratory research as a non-selective agonist of melanocortin receptors (MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, MC5R) in cell and tissue models.
