Research description

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide, Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH. It is a metabolite-like analogue of Melanotan II with a free C-terminal acid instead of an amide.

It is studied in laboratory research on melanocortin receptors, in particular MC3R and MC4R, in cell and tissue models.
