Research description

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide, Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro: the ACTH(4–7) fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone extended with Pro-Gly-Pro, which makes it more resistant to breakdown. It has no corticotropic activity.

It is studied in laboratory research on neuropeptides, melanocortin signalling and the expression of neurotrophic factors such as BDNF in cell and tissue models.
